Hilly Region Development Campaign (HRDC), Jajarkot is working with the partnership of Save the Children funded  ABASAR- II project which is one of the integrated projects focusing on child poverty with livelihood activities, education, child protection and child rights governance interventions in Bheri Municipality, Shivalaya Rural Municipality and Kushe Rural Municipality of Jajarkot District for the overall goal of “Children from the most deprived and vulnerable families are educated, protected and their families are economically resilient” with three outcome areas. Similarly, the objective of the education theme is to increase the school regularity of grade 9 & 10 children from poor and marginalized families and develop the academic skill for them to succeed.

Background of the project

HRDC in partnership with Save the Children is implementing the integrated project Abasar II. Abasar II, a two years project that started in November 2022, has been planned to address issues around deeply entrenched poverty, food insecurity, school dropout, and learning losses due to migration along with lack of access to safe quality education, poor child protection and governance system inefficiency to respond to the needs of the children and families in an integrated way. The three key outcome areas necessary to operationalize this integrated project are presented below.

Food security and incomes of poor and marginalized families increased.

Increased school regularity of the children from the poor and marginalized families

Local government systems and policies are in place for families' economic empowerment and children's education and protection.
